Seems like just yesterday

We played your favorite game,

Now, you’re starting a new life,

And taking another name.

As a little girl you slept sweetly,

Like you are now on my chair,

I’ll carry you to bed once again,

And put you with your teddy bear.

You grew up in a flash,

From diapers to college,

No more skinned knees

For me to tend with a bandage.

I tried to answer all your questions

Whether serious or silly,

You found your way out of childhood

And now, I can/'/t answer your questions as easily.

It’s hard to finally let go

Of the little gal, who’s been all mine;

I give you away, but holding on

To long memories in a short time.

You’ll start a new life soon,

But if you ever need an old pal,

I’ll always be your dad,

And you’ll always be my little gal.

A rating of 120 percent on the Awwww scale.
Tender, sentimental, and evoking many memories.
Now I know why moms cry at weddings.
How different the world would be if all fathers thought like this. In fact, how different it would be if we all had fathers in our lives.
A toast to the bride! And another to the author.

Such a beautiful write.
This should be on a hallmark card.
So sweet and tender,
Blessings,
emy
