but I remember the smell
as the minds and the bodies were melting
somehow we were slowly assimilated
and became cogs in the machine
on the assembly line in this burning confusion

Even though I was Over medicated
I knew that automation was to be hated
somehow I had to reach that utopia that was unknown
I drove the chevy to the levy at midnight
but it was to late
the water of knowledge was all gone-

I was conflicted
as I watched common sense expire
anger and rage took over
while the old ways singe in the fire
I was standing in line when she found me
she said her name was revelation
and the revolution must begin
but for now we must flee

The landscape was filled with road kill
many on the highway in hell never escaped
crippled pilgrims and the Innocent
were overwhelmed in the new wave

There are millions of people
who are vacant
they are every where that I am not
they have become the walking dead
the strain off this infection will be hard to stop

In the distance
I hear thunder
as the cities crumbled to the ground
I wanted to turn and go back
but she said just drive
there is nothing you can do now. [comments] => 7 [counter] => 159 [topic] => 21 [informant] => unknown_utopia [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )

Reminds me of the "Road Warrior" of course I hate that movie because of my old brother- lol, but true.
It was a great write like a movie script. I noticed you even shamelessly plugged yourself.... :)

" utopia that was unknown"

I enjoyed it!

mystical, cryptic. It can be interpreted in different ways.
Seems like a portent that many did not get. Thought provoking piece.

Nicely done! Your story carries the reader to the future as easily as sliding down a waterfall. In this case fo premonition and forbidding, Niagara Falls!
I get the feeling that we aren/'/t going to survive..and it is haunting.
My favorite line is THERE ARE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE WHO ARE VACANT. I used to work with one!
Great story theme. Ironic that man is the only animal who likes to scare himself.

within the one phrase,
"while the old ways singe
in fire",
I think of perhaps a
reverence deep
within another time
when land ownership
was only allowed by
kings and royalty
in the western world

Then the new world
came to be
and the white folks
all could have a half
a chance

But then,
I also think of a
calamity, or a clamor
the bombs bursting
in air,

a collusion of sort
a deep base sounding
boom sort of pop
breaking the sound
barrier, shaking
the barn,
possibly breaking
some glass

I would walk upon
the thin ice
testing it
in early winter
I had by intention
wanting to find
my way across
the body of water
knowing that I
could not easily
make it back
once the ice
cracked,
I would go
on testing
it, just the
same

Peace!

This is great. A peek as our(American) future seems to teeter on the brink.. My opinion only.
