the downward spiral.
Sometimes fast, sometimes slow,
Inevitably all will go,...
along a path trodden and worn
by all of those who/'/ve gone before.
A path quite easily traveled,
its mysteries too late unraveled
by anyone who dares to tread
their destination stays faintly clouded.
Lucky travelers burn out quick
like shooting stars, or bright comets.
they blaze a path across the sky,
their fresh new faces
turned withered and wise.
This wisdom comes at a terrible price,
more often than not, it costs you your life.
Or years and years of misery and pain,
knowing the cost and starting again.
watching new faces roll on by,
quick to their death
without blinking an eye.
Down and down and down we go,
each little slight against your ego,
every time your values get set aside,
you quicken the pace, and speed up your slide.
Round and round you seem to go,
while down and down the spiral flows.
Sometimes fast, sometimes slow
inevitably all will go
to their end. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 182 [topic] => 66 [informant] => dbl0jen [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => drugabuse )

Every one should read this poem with its poignant message. Addictions can rob the joy of life away.
