The man I see
Is a stranger to me
I know not his name or his fame
I can offer no acclaim
All I can do is pray
His creator peacefully takes him away
For now, sadness and fear
Is all I can hold dear
Deaf, dumb, and blind
I only wish

Strong poem about the loss of identity and self-recognition, and the existential effect that has on us.
There is a turning point in out lives where we realise we have become someone we don/'/t recognise as ourselves, or we have forgotten large chunks of our histories - hopefully our core self remains, despite whatever else changes or falls away.

I like it a lot except for the last line which is regrettable
Alzheimer/'/s is worse than death. This disconnection between the mind and soul and body. It is not the same as being put to rest.
But the rest of your poem makes me think.
I blaze on when I write and see all the misspelled words
and horrid sentence structures, I see them, easy to do when you write quick or do not type well. I can type fast but not good. I too see a lot of people like myself or another guy who might lament so many things, things outside what they know can no longer be changed
Still I type hard and fast frenetically without a passing thought.

Peace!

James; you make a good point. many things can bring out the stranger within each of us. Rage, sorrow, fear, loss, to name a few. It is not only disease that erases our presence and self control.
And I do believe we all have a stranger within.
A powerful person who would do and say what our outer self would never allow.

Given the fragile creatures we are, I am amazed we last as long as we do, with so few malfunctions.
so...
Let me remember for those who cannot;
With pictures and songs of things long forgot.
In hopes that someday, should it come to be;
Someone will be there to do it for me.

// Satan`s blessing. Alzheimer`s and dementia. Satan`s blessing.

Very heartfelt to me because I have personally witnessed and gone through this with my Mom. My two aunts (her sisters) got it too.

Guess I can look forward to it.

Great poem. Definitely stirred up my emotions.

Take care, ♥

Dugan
