Giving ourselves away;
One ragged piece a day;
The siren knocks, our door unlocks;
Guilt’s found us where we lay.
A heart full of pretendings;
Reliving phantom crimes.
Trying to change the ending;
A hundred thousand times.
Feed me lies like lullabyes;
I’ve no way to forget;
No tears I’ve cried through rusted eyes,
Can change what is, and yet;
For all our lives it follows us;
Replaying every sadness;
It’s tangled weeds will swallow us;
Across the gates of madness.

Incredibly true, despite being in entirety metaphor.
The strange thing of guilt is the fact that it in some sense does us no good as we have it, which makes it in a sense much like a "hell." It/'/s a lot like Jonah and the whale- at least as I recall the story from the mouth of my favorite contemporary intellectual:
"Jonah was escaping [insert biblical place here] because God had called him to a task that he refused and could not find in himself to do, either out of fear, or some other sort of rejection to do what was "right" or the calling of God. He was on a ship with other sailors on a rough sea, when they all shared some backstory why they were there. Upon learning that Jonah was going against God, they were afraid that they too would be in His bad graces and threw him overboard, where he was swallowed by a whale [where he remained for some amount of time]."
The idea in the sense of spirituality and/or psychologically, is that by not doing what we need to, and not saying what we find of incredible importance, we upset the balance and peace in our lives, and until we learn from the negative feelings and emotions surrounding a memory, we are plagued by guilt and regret foe not acting, and we can/'/t get past that until we accept reality and in some cases go and do the thing that caused the ailment from "inaction" or in some cases "action" in the first place.
Hopefully you understand what I/'/m trying to say. It/'/s difficult to maintain focus with a phone typing. Writing or a keyboard is a different story lol |
