no one taught me how to build new ones
figuring it out on my own
as I go
feels so slow
don`t think anyone would choose to live this way
leaving you was the first good choice I made
convincing myself every day
on my way
through the grey

the overgrowth has grown so thick in here
you ring so loud and clear
as I just disappear
a little girl picked last to play again
not knowing where or when
but every now and then
I close my eyes and just sink into the waves
and everything`s okay
it carries me away
this everchanging landscape keeps me warm
and even thunderstorms
light up the skies in force

you wouldn`t recognize this place now, would you?
your garden looks greener than mine
signs point the way at every turn
nothing burns
but I`ve learned
to see the beauty in the road less traveled
cutting out my own groove in this world
dying to see a different view
breaking through
to something new

the popular choice wasn`t mine to make
but as my earth did quake
I fell so wide awake
not every smile comes easily, my dear
but I will persevere
as cloudy days come clear
my old shoes seem to fit you very well
broke them in treading hell
endless spinning carousel
finally forging myself a new path
through this blazing aftermath
and I won`t stop to look back [comments] => 5 [counter] => 76 [topic] => 19 [informant] => MoonlitAngel [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => InspirationalPoems )

Oh my gosh! Love this. The emotions just pour out of the words. Painful but hopeful. Thank you for sharing.

A tale of courage, hesitation, doubt and re-affirmation. We find you uncertain but committed to your journey, and we are rooting for you to believe your own words.
the line that hit me was I FELL SO WIDE AWAKE.
Wow. We have all done that, but never have I heard it expressed so well.
A toast to you and your new path!

There is hope in here, fighting its way through that thick undergrowth of self doubt.
Keep clearing that path to the light of happiness.
Loved the resilience that shone though in this.,
Lovely work

Steve

Your last 6 lines hit right between the eyes.
The entire work is vivid and reads like a boxer jabbing and taking the blows round after round until the end
Of the bout, unanimous victory!
