Remnants of previous tenants
Drug paraphernalia including lighters and bongs
Battered furniture, old newspapers and night club flyers
Posters from yesteryear on walls
Cups, bottles, plates and take away packaging
The decades have not been kind here
As damp fills the air, with sweat and decaying food add to the heady stench

The old tenants prepare to depart
Our new residents have been watching and waiting to swoop in
There is a crossover period
As the old say farewell, the new say hello, to the squat
Prime real estate property in a bustling dystopian metropolis

The stage is set for us to see
What the new will bring to our mise en scene
Every story has to be told
This is only one story in the history of the squat

by banjosandwitch 06/06/17

Soon to become a series of songs, poems, stage plays, short film or TV series or feature film

Sing to me
close the room off
everybody/'/s thinking about
Neil Young, and there/'/s a bird
everybody says they know this city
like they come from here, like they
were born here, and they want to get out
of it, And go someplace else.
So sing it!
Like you know how.

Peace!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
