I still see you and me
And how things could have been
The picture of you and me
Although distorted to hide
What my mind will  forever deny
Reveals the happiness you took from me
When you up and went away
I kept holding on
Thinking of a happier yesterday
Yes time after time
Avoiding the reality of the finality
With you went all my hope and faith
But I resigned to keep holding on
Trapped in a world of hate and negativity
You cared not that you sealed my fate
What I see in the mirror is all that I have lost
I can/'/t reverse all the hate
We had rehearsed
Only can I cry dry tears of late
Everything I dreamed we would be
Was left behind in a world of deceit and empty promises
You took from me all of my hope
Like a braided rope
You strung it around my throat
Left my future dangling in your little hands
Loving me was never in your plans
You took my faith and trust
And turned it into nothing but dust
In you I trust
Has now turned to rust

Either our lives are very parallel in these cases or there are just lots of cruel /*****/ out there with cruel intentions. I guess it//'//s both.

Great poem, Jim❗❗❗👍

Man, James...I haven/'/t felt that much passion since I was 18. Passion, unrequited love and the like is a lovely chain to drape ones self in, but no matter how lovely it may be, a chain is a chain.

Write of joy, and it will answer answer the knock of your pen.

Mike
