Ill not change for you, you know!
No, you cant move in my love;
What next step are you speaking of?

Oh, the M-word. Yes I see.
Certainly it flatters me.
But must I give away my self;
To be a Mrs Someone Else?

Why leave your selfhood far behind you?
Furthermore, may I remind you!

This state has no immunity!
Our propertys community;
½ of what we own comes due;
the moment that we say I do.

OK, youre right; we live alone;
But honey, we are all our own!

Let me suggest a trade off here--
To counter your proposal dear;
Why not forsake the wedding bells
And lets continue parallel!

Side by side and ununited;
Leave the lawyers uninvited!
Keep our checkbooks and our stuff;
Separated just enough;

So we will only argue honey;
Over love, but never money!
Nor who spends whose time with whom;
Or what neighbors might assume!

Let us vow to be unmarried;
Thrusted into love unparried!
Unvowed, unaltered, unbetrothed!
Untuxedoed and un-owed!
Unringed, unchurched, and unindebted;
Ceremonially unfetted!

Years from now well simply smile;
At friends we watched walk down the aisle;
Cause if statistics stay on course;
Well see them when they get divorced. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 158 [topic] => 7 [informant] => softerware [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => HumorPoetry )

OMG this was brilliant. I think we all have pondered this before. We all know women don/'/t like prenups..

This read like a story but had an awesome flow and it brought back memories of " I love you baby, but sign the paper" lol.................

This was great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And spot on I may add..........

Spot on, logically.

Of course, the flow and scheme are at your usual very high bar.

Yes, verily. Two marriages, two divorces, but it wasn/'/t the property settlement that bankrupted me -it was the child maintenance! That you can/'/t avoid, married or no.

Still, your sentiment sits well - if only the declaration could be made without all the other sacrifices and obligations.
