Let me suggest a trade off here-- To counter your proposal dear; Why not forsake the wedding bells And lets continue parallel! Side by side and ununited; Leave the lawyers uninvited! Keep our checkbooks and our stuff; Separated just enough; So we will only argue honey; Over love, but never money! Nor who spends whose time with whom; Or what neighbors might assume! Let us vow to be unmarried; Thrusted into love unparried! Unvowed, unaltered, unbetrothed! Untuxedoed and un-owed! Unringed, unchurched, and unindebted; Ceremonially unfetted! Years from now well simply smile; At friends we watched walk down the aisle; Cause if statistics stay on course; Well see them when they get divorced.
