The Hot Mess of this world
has seeped like indigo behind my eyes,
scattered losses step on me;
jackboots pound my memories.
Sighs no longer help,
shrugged shoulders and “Awe, hell”
pile like cobwebs of lead in the hall of myself.
All the bells and whistles of glitz
pale in the wish to return,
with rag and polish, to restore a luster
to past blunders;
cool the Hot Mess I swim in with all the world.

Oppression weighs down our spirit. Bad memories are so heavy on our shoulders.
Unless we be crushed by the burdens we cannot right..we must embrace our history as the catalyst that made us strong enough to go on.
This lovely poem speaks to the sheer weight of our history haunting our present. We do not deserve to re-invite the past to wipe its boots upon us.
