[hometext] => Having served in the United States Marine Corps. from 1997-2002 I hope to one day consider this to be my final resting place.
[bodytext] => Arlington
Row upon row
White crosses gleam and glisten in the sun
Apart from a gentle breeze
There is only a deafening silence
For even the birds quiet their singing
Out of respect for the resting dead
Every cross has a story
Bearing a burden of a nation loved
Despite not being related by blood
Every soul here is considered family
Whether it was during time of war
Or under an ever weary peace
With every step taken the sense of honor
And sacrifice is overwhelming
For a few gave all
So the masses can take for granted
What the fallen fought so valiantly to protect
God Bless America!

This hit home for me being a marine myself as well as my grandfather. Also, my entire family has served in all of the different branches. Arlington is sacred ground for many and you did a great job capturing it. Your imagery gave me goosebumps. Great piece of writing.

What a great poem. I don/'/t live very far from there. You summed it up beautifully.
Bravo!

I had to read it again. Awesome.
I hear the song of freedom in the background as I read this. I see it as a sign....hmmm |
