These feet,
Nary a peep,
Without fail,
bend leather
every time the same.
I thought this house mine.
This unsought consistency,
I now know,
Even though I hold the deed,
Points unerring
that the architect owns me.
Even shoes and shirts
obediently offer but
a left, a right;
choices,
therefore,
the stuff of laughter,
promenade
bare as shoeless feet.

Hello my brother

First let me say its so nice to read you again.

Yes in life there is so much we do that is not our plan, although we may think it is. We are cunningly lead into believing its what we want, and we believe, just to find our self trapped. Your poem so gently points this out to us, but will we learn from this? I pray we do. Beautiful write, God bless you.

Greetings
Rus

A wanderers lament! We are limited by our surroundings, and they are designed by others!
I wonder if we could cope without boundaries?
If our surroundings endlessly morphed to our every movement, where would our core existence reside?
Do we not rely on the drape we can draw; the door we can lock? No longer forest dwellers who live off the land...we panic if the power goes out!
A sweet lament with wise intent..
Freedom is as freedoms spent..
Set us free and we retreat;
scared and bare as shoeless feet!
