[bodytext] => While walking the streets of Saint Augustine
We sat down against a monument
Across from an old fort
The view was so pristine
Just you and me, facing the sea
Then you raised your ugly voice again to berate me
Was it because I showed up out of the blue?
And you always knew
Your love for me was never true
As we walked onward
I said I have some news
Some news just for you
As we continued to walk, I proclaimed
The time for me to settle down
Has come due
Sadly though it won/'/t be with you
Because of all the pain you put us through
Time to move on
For all my hopes and dreams
Won/'/t be coming true
Sometimes it hurts so bad
To be this lonely and sad
All of our dreams
Went up in smoke
While you stood by and fanned the flames
With it went all of our hopes
My dreams began to fade
With time I pray, I forget these days
I/'/m getting much older now
Don/'/t want to go on living
Carrying nothing but a frown
I/'/ll put these days behind me
Find someone new
Try to forget
We even knew
Yes I/'/ll still go on
With or without you

There is such a sadness in your words. You can/'/t help but feel the pain that is conveyed throughout. But there is also hope. Emotionally raw and well written. |

oh Saint Augustine
on the once clean FLA coast
Oh, you, doctor of church
Always telling me why
there are visions
founded in 1565
of you Spanish
sailing conquistador
Heroes of exploration
of which to explore
or not, what could
possibly go wrong
Peace!

Well now I have U2 playing in my head...This is a sad, contemplative piece. The language creates a strong visual. As much as I understand the desire to forget someone or something so painful, I beg you to remember instead. Remembering will better serve you in the long run.
Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.
Stay strong.

A sad but not uncommon story that we can all relate to. Your journey touches the heart and rings true.
This is another stage of healing. Disbelief and Denial are over; Acceptance is embracing you. When you can make bitter jokes about this woman, and enjoy the laugh at yourself, you will own your fate once more.
Your write speaks of a man who knows that love cannot heal or complete him, and that is a mighty lesson to master. You are, in your own assessment, worthy of the love you long to give away to another.
