And I am being replaced.
Like the pieces of a machine,
I am no longer functional, useful for her.
The emotional despair is a fire,
Burning in my gut,
The heat rises to my neck.
I am being cut out and away,
She views me as a cancer to her happiness.
She knew the emotional destruction of her actions,
But refuses me honesty,
And insight.
I am left looking at what we have built,
Like a statue I observe the calculated ruin of our life together.
I am replaced by a usurper,
A hapless fool who will not last.
And I will have to continue to pretend
To put on the mask, to be the persona.
And like all my relationships I am discarded,
A waste of time for Love,
Or happiness,
Or hope.
She is the caravan,
And I am the dust,
I am nothing,
I am the dust. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 310 [topic] => 48 [informant] => deadreckoning1983 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

This is so close to the bone,
It rings so true in the chapters of my life.
Always ending up discarded and alone..

I can actually FEEL this...

Well written!

Love,

Always such a difficult time to cope when we are exchanged for another when deep down we know we still have much to offer. Yet, the mind is made up and there is no going back. Left to pick up the pieces to build again. Believe it or not there will be others. Allowing ourselves to believe that is a different story. Great job

This was painful to read, my friend. I hope you are on the mend and surrounded by loved ones.

Keep your chin up.
