Somewhat like a Gherkin pickle!
Once a sleek and pale cucumber!
Til the vinegar encumbers!

Lumpy, shriveled, green as sin;
Ah, but what delight within!

When your hormones get to perkin;
And the pretty girls are lurkin;
Why settle for a face devine?
Knowing time is beautys brine.

Gorgeous will take years of workin--
Wiser you to pick a Gherkin! [comments] => 5 [counter] => 145 [topic] => 7 [informant] => softerware [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => HumorPoetry )

now wait
when I was a kid
I wouldn/'/t eat anything
I was so much a born
vegetarian
but I liked them pickle/'/s
from the get go
loved the brine
O I can/'/t say it was the lacto-fermentation
process at all

I wouldn/'/t say that
But, then, whatever did I like
about the pickle then
you might wonder

it was the taste and the feel
on a cold winters day
and there I was barefoot
on the cold floor when
I first discovered them
sitting on the shelf

I popped that first lid
and pop
I somehow knew
of autumn
and age

as it revealed
itself to me

in its marvelous
juice and spice

Peace

Was intending only to read, but I couldn/'/t let this one go. It is a little gem of wit, as refreshing as a cool shower on a humid afternoon.
