Sitting here at this moment
having emotions of who I have become
Having been born again as a child
my feelings now are numb

At one time I had understanding
about God and heaven above to be
Since that time I have become lost
leaving the hand of Jesus to do what I wanted for me

I have been a lost sheep
because my wonder of the world took control of me
For so many years I have been blind
once again I would like to see

Stuck here in moments of sentiment
my heart and soul cry out
I close my eyes and listen
the Christian music to which I hear, does reassure my doubt

The worldly ways in which I have lived
have brought me so much anger and pain
I don’t have much more energy to go on
dear Lord forgive me for everything I have done in vain

My choices in this life
should be choices in which I can always rejoice
Just know there is a God
when you call on him, he will hear your voice

Not only should you call on him
in times of trouble or dire need
You need to give him your hand
implant his love as a seed

So at this moment I rejoice
because dear God you’re always in my heart
I hold your hand in belief
knowing from this numbness I will depart

Waynster, if I was out on a stormy sea, I certainly would not let go of my life jacket. So, you best hold on.

God is of the heavens, but we are of the world.
I think He probably knows we live in "worldly ways" as you say.
I don/'/t believe he is waiting to judge us, but perhaps will greet us by asking what took us so long.
Your lovely poem is an affirmation that no matter how far we travel, or for how long, we can always come home.
