Solace and Insight

Contributed by Deidra_Carmichael on Saturday, 2nd January 2016 @ 10:22:20 PM in AEST
Topic: didactic

I was lost in deep thought, wishes
Pining for the love of one that wasn/'/t mine
Everyday I/'/d think of him and yearn for his affections
Knowing full well that my desires were not reality

Frustration and guilt started to kick in
I shed a tear from time to time
Aware that my destiny was put on hold because of him
I wanted to hold him and forget him all in the same moment

Then that moment grew lighter as my mind found hope
Picturing him setting me free, giving me the comfort I needed
I ran to him for solace and insight
He held me in his arms, caressing my curly brunette locks

Then He said, don/'/t cry, for I am not worth your precious tears
I am flawed even though you see me as flawless
You want to give me the world, but the world has already found me
Your mind and heart are set on me, but I am set on other things

So go ahead and let me go for there is one that will satisfy you
He will love you and live for you, fulfill the desires in your heart
Once he/'/s yours you/'/ll forget anyone else that could come between
That unbreakable bond of genuine, eternal love

I wasnt sure how this poem was to be perceived at first but then i started to understand it.
If you love something, let it go they say.
Pretty well captured the emotion here.
Very nice.
