Definately my past... [bodytext] =>

She sat torn there in the meadow, staring at the hand
That held the pen, that spoke her heart, for a distant man
It seemed to her so sad, that her hand be empty now
She thought to pen her sadness, but didn't know quite how

A glimpse of him in mind, brought the lonely tears
Screams within her echoed, and only she could hear
In a shameless downpour, she felt them warm upon her face
They trailed down her cheeks, same old stains retraced

Long ago she'd sat here, with a pretty ribbon in her hair
Aglow with tender feelings,on summers jasmine air
Her heart had skipped the beats,a new dance had begun
Her smiles warm and hopeful, for could this be the one?

He was of such a gentle nature, refined in all his ways
Words that graced her very soul, her breath he stole away
Verses came like flowers, delivered upon loves wings
Her every day was so alive, for all the happiness he'd bring

She loved him without thought, without care she gave her all
And to this wonderful man,she let her cloak of distrust fall
To him she offered her soul, beckoned soft with loving whispers
She would blush, fall more in love, with his everyday sweet kisses

One morn' as she awoken, and as usual from beautiful dreams
Soft sunlight sprayed across her bed, stillness so serene
She thought how he would love it,her sunny mountain place
While lying nestled to her breast, her hand to stroke his face

Yet as she stood before the window, and looked up to the sky
Something deep inside her dropped, and tempted her to cry
She searched the far horizon, and waited so patiently
For just a sign,a flicker of hope that all was right with he

No shifting sands nor moonlit tides, could take her from the depths
Of where she had awoken,to find all her dreams shipwrecked
Broken and despondant, she wandered up and down the shore
Waiting for a whispering breeze,to bring his words once more

Yet time would drift and leave her there, days turned into months
No more did she hear from him, though she saw him sailing once
Reaching deep inside, she tried to conjure up her strength
But before her voice could call his name, his shadow came and left

Staring after his departure,to where his body had just been
She hurt for all the knowing that her heart had gone unseen
Looking all about her, wondering where her hurt could go and hide
She noticed scribbling in the sand, that caught the tears she cried

"" Your Name...
The rain was now a gentle mist
and suddenly I could not resist
so in the steam...upon the pane
I closed my eyes and wrote your name ""

She held her breath for but a moment,as she stumbled with the pain
Gathering words within cupped hands, she held the sandy grain
Knowing as she knelt forlorn ,before the coming of the rain
Her heart would die a thousands deaths till nothing would remain

For though the words are pretty, and paint her tattered soul
They can't replace real feelings, therefore the truth's not whole
On the tides of which he sailed, her feelings will always ride
Yet nothing will ever take away the pain she felt inside

He held her in her happiness, showered her with sweet devotion.....
Then left her to face the sadness alone,as he run from his emotions

I found the hurt almost unbearable to read. The words, the scan, poured out trmendous pain.long persistent pain.

Is this something women suffer more than men or was I just one of the "hard hearted ba-tards" that trampled roughshod through many young romances.

Oh yes I was hurt and grieved several tims but it didn't ast long. Part of it between '43 and '48 was being a serviceman I was posted here there and everywhere at short notice. You developed a transient mentality and the girls all new it. (well most of them did)

I was deeply touched by this poem. Should have read itwhen I was 16 (probably wouudn't have done any good)
