Remarkable insights visit me,
born in dark and lunar silence
when the mind, alone,
romps
even as even heaving
of my blessed unfettered love
passes night's breath in even sway
mere envious inches to my side,
yet dreaming miles away.

Her whispered almost worded snore
sighs steadily,
“We need”, We need”, “We need”;
Part lungs labor, esophageal song;
alone to me in the soulful hour of three,
a profound and eery litany;
a repeated gasp found in repast,
stranger to the sun,
shared unknowing to keen ears;
mine,
hours 'ere lighted orb to dawn will dine.

“We need”, I hear, and clearly see
the fine woven net our lives tromp upon;
it came clearly as moonlight on dewed grass
how empty souls thrive, prosper in this plane;
likewise decent souls reel in pain,
both on this theater, this mighty stage;
infinite jest this; billions of souls
in disarray yet strange arranged.

Our human vessel;
this flesh, blood and bone,
one hundred eighteen elements us,
to a one
elementally identical to our earthen home;
this static whirling, atoms twirling
in place
on high unknown demand,
what stays this frantic action,
on whose or what command?
What mandate holds us all in thrall
to play hero, villain, knave, Saint?
Who wields such a brush to canvass
infinite hues of paint.

To be sure,
as every soul whispers to its host,
some to heed, ignored by most,
our duty surely not so mundane
as to gather atoms thus arranged
to boats, cars, vases, art-
mere things like us (in element) but not so much;
no thinking, breathing, objects such.

A fools errand those that seek,
most assured,
failing both in soul and heart
those spirits sore in need of cure.

Quite quite interesting.

Something funny, in the second stanza, the "We need"s were actually taken in as some sort of comical "instinctively-driven sleep-talk", giving me a chuckle unexpectedly.

I love the numbers of ways I can picture things, both relatively speaking, or literally speaking, or metaphorically speaking.

For example, the "the fine woven net our lives tromp upon;"

I pictured the woven net as a tiled kitchen floor.
I pictured it as a rug upon a kitchen or rather a dining room floor.
Then I pictured a sort of web-like digital blue thread in a nautical star-like shape stretching in all directions, with only faint outlines, like very-close to burnt out computer monitors from late 80s and early 90s monitors, with the couple entirely formed out of lines. The couch formed entirely out of lines. The painting on the wall behind it entirely formed out of lines. They too, a faint dingy(Right word? Near faded to invisibility) near-transparent or near-black green, or vectors if you will, and that was a surprisingly interesting image.

It was later on that I got the "We need"s, when I saw the second usage of them.

I also really liked a lot of the wording here, while some things took a couple or few read overs to get them to stick or settle in, the "mere envious inches to my side,
yet dreaming miles away" is quite outstanding on its own because of a couple meanings I can take from it.

The discovery of electrons at completely separate parts of the universe responding to stimuli at the same time, as well as the body being by your side, but the consciousness in the land of nod.

That's all I can take the time to comment on for now, but I will say this is certainly well done. :)

The night makes for an inspirational muse. This is a splendid write. I related closely as I wandered in your metaphysical, 'dark and lunar silence'. Grateful of your hospitality.I'm inspired.
