[bodytext] => Here’s to PR men of fame, who know the value of a name. Names we got by circumstance; they changed to help careers advance. Precluding noteriety; and columns in Variety; Most sounded just like you and me; and that, my dears could never be! For dashing heroes so deserving; can’t be called Dumont or Irving! What follows is a testimony; to the PR man's baloney! Julius Ullman had to go; his agent picked the name we know; In Technicolor Douglas thanks; the guy who changed him to Fairbanks. Diane Belmont wouldn’t sell; and glamour didn’t suit her well; But we happily recall; comedic genius Lucille Ball. Taidje Kahn became a King; danced on Broadway; learned to sing; Westworld’s killing robot brings to mind Yul Brenner’s rendering. Gracie took Nat for a turn. Changed from Burnbaum to George Burns! Rodney Dangerfield was known, as no respect John Henry Cohn. Here’s a tale that’s even stranger! Jimmy Stewart was Stewart Grainger… James L. Stewart took his name; and Stewart Granger came to fame. McKinley Morganfield rings true; the “Father of Chicago Blues”; But McKinley’s sons and daughters, knew him best as Muddy Waters! Lazo Lowenstein had eyes; that terrified and mesmerized; Dashiell Hammett gave him glory; as the Falcon’s Peter Lorre. Bette Perski said, you know; to call me “pucker up and blow!” Bogie’s sexy dame recall; as sultry siren Lauren Bacall. What Brooklyn DJ soon was known; for gravel voice and howling moans? Poor Bob Smith was luster lacked; until they called him Wolfman Jack. Izzy Demsky blonde and thin; had this dimple in his chin; Spartucus brought Izzy fame; and our Kirk Douglas took the blame! This cowboy had his hills and Dales; and left us many Happy Trails; But when known as Leonard Slye; Roy Rogers never caught our eye. And William Henry Pratt’s devine; as Boris Karloff’s Frankenstein! But none knew litttle Shirley Schrift; til Shelly Winters went adrift! Names it seems have magic to empower us to what we do! The internet will let you be; anyone that you decree! So, let me ask you one and all; To headline at Carnegie Hall; Would you have changed what you were called?
