[bodytext] => I doubt that science and history; Could find a better mystery; Than who we are and whence we came; We’re orphans here without a name! But sampling soil and carbon dating; Haven’t done much indicating! (Dinosaurs we know about; But human lineage stays in doubt)! Some claim apes originated; All these genes we’ve integrated; But were they the missing link; Would not their ape-form be extinct? Faith requires some odd deceptions; Watered wine; devine conception… Religion makes believable; the downright inconceivable! Heaven/Hell (their best creation!) Ying and Yang to man’s temptations Was Bethlehem a mystery? Or mind-boggling technology? Suppose the star on midnight clear; Was from a ship that landed here? To give their dying progeny; A few more years of history? Might you fall also on our knees; Convinced that these were gods indeed? Who mapped the stars and made it pour; For forty days and furthermore.. An aircraft carrier might have space; For two of every specie’s race; But Noah’s Arc? Suffice to say; They came onboard as DNA! To venerate theology; We discount anthropology; (Perhaps why we so seldom see; An ape atop a Christmas tree). Still, I doubt that we, with luck; Emerged from some primordial muck! Although you’re where you are today; Cause many many paved your way! You need not agree with me; And that's your privilege certainly! but asking “why” expands the mind; and answers follow close behind! (One precaution good to follow? Taste life first before you swallow). Why, for instance don’t we think; That man will ever be extinct? We may be the highest order; But that chain is getting shorter! We’ll freeze, or fry, or boil in tar; Or drown, or breathe in vats of SAR; Or blow the planet off its axis; (Anything except pay taxes)! With any luck they’ll not resolve; The mysteries they seek to solve! And we will trust what wise men say; Unless a star should come your way. Just don’t look up or slow your pace; When they see how we’ve changed the place; With any luck we’ll fall from grace.
