The Lord's Mirror

Contributed by CARAAAAA on Friday, 21st August 2015 @ 09:43:56 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

Tonight the moon dips so low
she leans back, lays down
ever so gently
like hard rock softy
kissing a mound of soft pillows
She's blindingly white, piercing almost
in her sagacious clairvoyance
She drifts, she sinks
lower now
laying her head on the rain slicked streets
illuminating black tar
reflecting our perceived truths
So round
so uncompromising
Such is the nature of a full circle
Drip, drop
little beads of rain
warm like tears
slipping
from the frail, outstretched palms of leaves
into a tiny puddle
debouched into a rivulet
flowing into shadowy gutters
It's almost an urgent trickle at first
a steady drizzle down
on the lone housewife
as she hastily unfurls her umbrella
haunched and hurrying home
then slowly,
but with greater certainty
just as she shuts her window
as the second hand of the clock
glides towards bedtime
But all sounds ebb away
waning
as the moon gazes down
this time benignly
her soft mercy
scattered across a million droplets
little guiding lights
in the dark, cold heart of twilight
just before our disconsolate thoughts and fears
fade into the morning
A million twinkling stars from a long gone galaxy
beckon from a dream so far away
before hurt, guilt and regret
billowed through the empty streets
"Sleep now," the moon says
"I will nudge you when the time has come
for a lifetime of nights
to be washed away into a sea of light."

I was surprised by this very good piece. You had me using the dictionary with this one. Very good.

Good gracious! I am awash in the exquisite mastery of this piece.
The elaborate detail and storytelling is a true pleasure to read.

Thank you for posting!

Keep up the writes.
