When you lose yourself?
I can't even love myself
Without the pain.
You can't save me,
Your efforts are in vain
Rising above the ashes,
But asphyxiated by smoke
Cloaked in daggers
Of serrated hope
Everyday it begins anew
Tapping my shoulder;
Poking through
There was never a chance
But my ignorance grew
I am someone's shame.
Skeleton in the closet
That bears no name
Too foolish to see my own fading light
Medicated from trauma,
Shielded from the past,
But I can't escape the night.
When the night becomes day
And shadows fade away
I can no longer deny-
So this is goodbye.

Goodbye is so final. Until next time. :)

I have the sads.

For some reason this, in particular reached out and strangled me.

Rising above the ashes,
But asphyxiated by smoke

I don't know why.

Powerfully emotional!

Normally this would raise warning lights, but in your case it tells the story of where our torment leaves us when we let it get the best of us. I can relate to that. I hope we both can decide to be no one's 'skeleton'.

"I am the star within the corner of the sky
I am the flower blooming when the others die
I am the rain that falls from the ground to sky
I am that way because I walk so all alone"

Quote from "I walk alone" by Archie Brown

Just like my words here, your poem holds a much deeper meaning than the words show, that is why I like this poem.

Excellent poem indeed.
Much thought went into it's execution.
Very thought provoking.

"I am someone's shame".

What a fantastic line! A poem could be built around that alone.

Very well done. I can absolutely relate.

So this is goodbye

adios
ba bye now
And thanks for flying
the friendly skies

that the enshrined
corrugated boxes
never get to
hear

Don't you be like that
my man
ever take the train
and go into the long dark tunnel
and hear the rattle
get dull or muffle
or deafness
in the shadows

they beat upon the bums
for fun

under the moon light
realm

Hey HS
you capture the obscene
nature of this world
one by one and so on
some say it's all binary

the soul's like a package they say
figure of speech that is

Peace!

sad but brilliant words you penned here...all so very true. I wish this eloquent display of such raw emotion was not so relate-able. I love the hope that is spotted through this though..

If you're someone's shame they're just an *****!
