craters we dance around,

gleeful whispering as a friend,
all the while placing dabs, tastes,
until gagging billboards scream
our mistakes, and so, our end.

oh the plodding we will do

this reminds one of dents or dentures
or lack there of

I love the talking heads song, Nothing But Flowers

"years ago,
I was an angry young man
I'd pretend I was a billboard
Standing tall
By the side of the road
I fell in love with the beautiful highway"

So I write of my own experiences in my own voice
or of what I've once read in my own voice
in an extemporaneous way

And so I read as well as we both must
just thinking about this everything
and even sometimes with the feeling
of no place to go

places, people, explanations with no real
definitions we can fully comprehend
perhaps no one ever could

Or we hope that maybe we should
give it a go

with the nimblest of plod
before we get sucked into that
thinnest of mud

I love that name of this poem and
all your writing as well. It's only here
if you write it, said the voice between my worn out ears

Peace!

As someone who lives with ghosts, and regrets too, I'm with you as you write. 'Mud sucked hole of regret', now there's a beauty.
Your good, Invi.
