and even contained in the moments of silence and loneliness,
there is a certain calm, and stillness at the times of this life
when it is believed that we are at our lowest point.

There is something inspiring about chaos, and heartache.
something so beautiful in the pain and despair.
the tears that are hiding behind the transparent fake smiles
are proof of the fight we think is faded away.

and I may not know much of smelling the flowers,
and I couldn't describe to you the warmth of the sun,
but I know that anger is passion confused, and misplaced,
and pain is to remind us that we are alive.

so when you say you have seen me at my worst
please know that you have actually witnessed my best,
because lights shine brighter in the dead of the night
and in our darkest of hours,we push on and fight.

and If we are ever to find ourselves happy; content,
I fear that the best of us all would get lost;
because if we find ourselves longing for nothing at all,
then what reason and purpose is left after all?

Beautifully Broken is beautifully written! Great poem and you are right, "pain is to remind us that we are alive."

A very clever question your propose! Everyone is fighting some kind of uphill battle; and sometimes adversity brings out the best in us. Tempers us, and teaches us our capabilities.
While you are engaged in the struggle you need to believe in it. I get that.
But peace and contentment are not without purpose. Once you have met your own needs, you have the freedom to give to others. It's called philanthropy. It is the finest of human experience to be able to do something for others with no agenda of your own. I wish for you sufficient success that you can share the excess with someone to whom your crumbs are life itself. You will never stand as tall as when you bend down to help another. softerware

Love this! I felt a tug of knowing, what more could a poet want from a reader?

Interesting take on pain. I recall thinking something similar in the past and referring to it as beautiful sadness.
Anything that makes us feel alive has good in it. It sure beats complacency.
