Array ( [sid] => 181477 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => The Long Dark [time] => 2015-07-25 16:04:56 [hometext] => I've not been on here for a while.Hopefully people still remember me. This is just a little fantasy poem, told through the eyes of a prehistoric man [bodytext] => The cold time is upon us
When our furs will be coated with the frozen dust that falls from the sky
And the ground yields nothing but thorns and bones
We follow those that we hunt
The herd beasts that dwell on the edge of our world
Who clothe our backs and feed our elders and children alike
These are the times that the air around does not burn the skin or sting the eyes
The long dark , where the shimmering wind eats deep into the flesh
And the night draws demons among the shadows as faces of those passed mist the flames
Where our kin fall let the earth claim again
We will cover them in rock and leave them to sleep
Where the sharp tooth prowls and scours the land
We will follow in his soft, hunting footsteps
By the edge of the twisting grey water
Always listening to the voices of the deep forest
Until the sky wakes again
Painting the land with warm orange fire
And our darkened world hides from the incoming light [comments] => 10 [counter] => 652 [topic] => 40 [informant] => puppy_dog_eyes [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => fantasy )

It always amazes me how you can create for us something you have never experienced! Fantasy has to be believable, and you make it so!
Your vivid imaginings are your gift to readers, taking us places WE will never go-- except by your talented writings!
A well crafted tale, fully thought out, and cleverly described "where the sharp tooth prowls" indeed!
Glad I can read this in my cozy house, and not on the frozen tundra you delivered! softerware

This thoroughly surprised and impressed me. Where ever your inspiration is coming from keep delving deep because with words like these you will have my eyes (ears).

Good to see you posting again, Steve! You really put a lot of thought into this write; well done. I really enjoyed being immersed in another era.
Great imagery, and just a well-written piece.
