Keep your emotions tightly sealed

With a heavy price to pay

Haunts you every single day

I killed a man
In Vietnam
Wasn't for me
But Uncle Sam

I watched him die
With blood on my hands
I really didn't hate him

Now that I'm back home

This is sad. I hope I never have to say I killed a man or woman. They wouldn't take me in the service because of my eyes, otherwise (had I survived) I may have written a similar poem. Great stuff and sorry you have to go through this. Tim

Thank You For Your Service. I was in the Marines for 5 yrs although I never saw combat. I can only imagine what you have been going through all these years. You did a very good job at putting this into words. Thank you for sharing.

Very well written. It remains true to the T what veterans or those who come back from war go through. Even ordinary people who have done the unthinkable, I can relate to this so much.

and painful in so many ways.
