I’m supposed to move on, they say
the past is the past, just let it go
Some people just don’t understand
what I went through, they just don’t know

Life in my past was not easy
but I managed to make it through
I did it on very little strength
and with the help from friends that were true

Being told to just hang myself
that everyone would be better if I would just die
Many times the thought went through my head
finding myself all alone asking why

There were many sad times in my youth
being picked on and pushed around
Yes life was hard and I hated it
but still loved all the people in my town

Going to school was another story
I was shy and marked as a nerd
If I could turn back time
I wouldn’t be shy and my voice would be heard

To move on is one thing
digging in the past is not good they say
In some cases people don’t have to dig
their past just never goes away

Living your life as a lie
believing you are better off than you are
Always being reminded
because your past is like an ugly scar

So forgive me if I speak
about things that hurt me so
It’s the only way
I can move on, from things that happened so long ago
