through the valley to tall mountains grand
bending the branch,blowing farmers fields,
pebbles and even sand.
A spring time blizzard that stings ones eyes
batten down the hatches, hold on for the ride.

Oh the wind doth blow in Idaho
the pine tree's dance and sigh
the stop sign on the corner
is twisting to and fro
Im afraid just one more gust
and off in the air, stop sign shall go.

Its banging the rain gutters
and rattling the chain on the gate.
Even the birds are having a time
trying to fly forward, sailing then glide
then wings a flapping,I watch them go backwards
Oh my,oh my what a ride.

The winds chimes are dancing
a maniac tune I hear
soon very soon, they will be blown off their hooks
to sing no more as they lay tangled and dead on the ground
in moments I smile,in others I frown.

The hills around town are black as can be.
I look to the farmlands, sitting on the bench above me.
No, cannot see a thing, just a dark dusty line
a big dirt cloud a swirling, a spooky dark sight.

I decide its time to be not out driving anymore.
Tumble weeds dancing and racing
and beating my car, tossing me around
to and fro,oh my oh my its time to go home.
Get myself and the car right off the tumble weed road.

Wind trying to blow me backwards
and grit hits my eyes.
Dashing for cover,covering my eyes.
Farm field dirt, doesn't feel good on the skin
run,run for the house I must get in.

Soon the phones ringing,
its an emergency voice call.
Beware, beware,one and all.
Stay inside, the big gusts are a coming.
The roads are being closed
and if you drive a semi.....
they aren't a match for this Idaho wind
park it safe,tuck yourself in.

Of course I couldn't resist the urge.
Camera in hand,jacket and hood.
I was in awe of the wind, and the dirt filling the sky
no more blue, it smothered the sunshine.

Thinking to myself, oh this is bad timing.
The farmers have been tilling, spading and planting.
No rain to moisten the freshly planted fields.
I fear as I was looking all around me
at those big dust clouds,
there were also seeds, seed of great value
blowing away, with that big Idaho wind.

Hi there

Haven't read something from you in a while. Now this one comes along, all I can say is I'm glad I don't have to live it. Great rite very descriptive. Somehow I know exactly how it must feel even though I've never been in that kind of storm. God bless and TFS

Greetings
Rus

You really captured the scene here, even though I wasn't there I felt I was by the images that came careering towards me like the tumbleweed and the grit that came towards you.
In the UK we don't really get dust storms as it's mostly too wet, but now I can at least feel part of one.
