She twirled her hair
as she watched her children play-
Oprah droned and flies buzzed,
just another day.

The mail came,
the box clanked,
steps faded as she gathered
the white coffins of the unread,
thrown on a heap of same.

The list not made
of things not done
grew one line longer-
just another day.

Takes me back in time where the mailbox was our only connection with the world.
I prefer that life myself and many even today in America still live that life.

The message isn't so much lost on me, but I feel I don't fully connect with it. Also, the way it flows was really nice. :)

You have the most amazing way of seeing the worlds most mundane activities! I never once thought of a pile of unread mail as "white coffins of the unread, thrown on a heap or same."
This is rampant poetry at it's best!
And as to the list not made..I have lists of where my lists are!! Thanks for the gentle nudge to do more than exist each day, because the lists get as dusty as the young inspiration that penned them.
You beg the question: what did you do today?
Or were you too busy doing to accomplish anything..
