An Unbridled Steed

I feel the kicks of apathy
And the spurs of agony
Striking me violently
Into my bruisened sides
I gallop farther along the track
With them straddled on my back
With the finish line in sight
Never looking back
For there's no need to look behind
Because I cannot forget
Upon this dirty gravel path
The one that I've beset
The sun shines its light
As it's freed from the clouds
Giving me the glimmering hope
Of escaping from this shroud
When the time comes midday
And the sun watches overhead
I will stand on two bucking legs
And leave them behind in dread
