I’ve given up on the moon,
turned my face from the sun
drawn the darkest curtains,
and forgotten everyone
burnt the confessions of my heart,
the longing of my soul
the fears that kept me separate,
the words that made me whole
wrapped myself in quiet deeds,
the focus of the mind
made a lotus of my world,
and let it all unwind
meditated on the past,
took the wisdom off the shelf
wove it with my dreams
into a chrysalis of the self
I don’t know what I’ll become,
or how I’ll be transformed
only that the yearnings ache,
as they struggle to be born.

Well, well, well. . . The first poem I read tonight is also going to be my favorite & perhaps my mantra for some time.
(Are you hiding in my head & reading between my lines?
I keep reinventing how to reinvent myself but keep running out of time. . .) :)
Maybe this time I'll accomplish some small miracle of self, some inkling of uniqueness that I can resurrect.
I hope your own endeavor yields oodles and oodles of awareness, peace & loving care. . .

What a wonderful poetic phrase. It describes focus and determination with such beauty. Yet it also seems to have a sense of loss and sadness...
Transformation is not easy, in fact it is one of the hardest things a person can do, but in the end, it is always worth the effort. Beautifully penned. |
