I have to follow the dictates of
my heart and pen-
this morning my journey to
back alleys and dusty bricks
New Orleans has a surplus of.
Why, my fingers tap this or that
leading me to the despair of love
or love of despair;
really, who knows,
who cares?
This universe we call our own-
the one we know; we alone-
travelled (I'm in Illinois) to
NOLA as far as the nearest bar-
so many tears, dear god-
how long can I weep,
and for what?
For me?
For what wasn't, what won't be?
Hosh-posh, mish mash-
our inner beings a smashing of memories
and desire-
life is a hodgepodge- a quagmire
of wishes and dreams-
some fulfilled but most not-
at the end-
memories is all we got. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 171 [topic] => 14 [informant] => Invierno [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DreamsandWishes )

Wonderful. I've been reading your latest stuff, and bubbly it is not, but full of reflection and gruelling honesty it is. Good for you.

Just don't completely abandon the rainbows, and a gentle reminder it is darkest before dawn.

Well done.

I like this one as well, but I'll have to say I still like Wingless Flight more because it kind of serves as a reminder of each any other person's worth, importance, or meaning in the grand scheme of society or reality, while this is more of a pessimistic take on it. You know what I mean? Still, my favorite part is the despair of love, or the love of despair. Both extremes found to be in accordance quite often. :)
