May your fortune be kind

When it is pouring outside
As you drive down the road
And when you scamper to the door
You remember the garage code

As you enter your home
And again you scamper
To put logs on the blaze
It clicks to open the damper

If you decide to bake cookies
May they come out so soft
When you enjoy them by the fire
Yes, you have turned the oven off

Umm, those cookies are so good
Each one tasting like another
You thank the one who passed on the recipe
Yes, check, that person,  your mother

Now you are full up
That is it, no more
And you go out for a walk
You recall your umbrella and keys in the door

Upon your return
You retire to bed
Right as you lay down
This thought creeps in your head

Am I forgetting something?
What is it? Heck!
Ah yes, did I put out the fire?
Let me go check

May your fortune be kind

This is really grand, LOL...
Here you outline some of the ordinary/extraordinary good
fortunes we might experience and then how we might
have the misfortune of finding out misfortunes could be lurking just around the bend, and possibly due to our own neglect.
We smile we grit our teeth, we hope something, then possibly if we are lucky we see that yes, we have many fortunes, many, and not few.

Perfect is simple a warm bed with which to sleep.
Thanks for your very kind poem!
Peace!

An ode to short term memory!
I can't count the times I've U-turned around the block to make sure I closed the garage door!
What is, what might be, and what we remember at some point occupy the same space in time for a flash of a second..you have slowed the motion down to examine the see-saw rhythm of their relationship to each other! If it's true that simplicity is the hardest skill to achieve--you have mastered it. Very well choreographed, and a smooth pace that is a joy to enjoy!
