Ho-humming through tasks to me so hard
Then I think of the great range rider
To me, he is the prototype, a true life fighter

His cattle are his men,
And his land his constantly defends
From predators, weather and the like
Every day, a fifteen round knockout fight

Up one morning right at five,
Him and his cattle, ready for the drive
But before he leaves, he does what he should
Reaching in his pocket to mark his goods

With his lasso, he ropes his steer
Getting ready to label its right ear
And the range rider does it, I don't know how
With great gumption, a sharp knife and a ***** off cow

Now full of blood, ****, and mud
One more thing to do, surely not fun
Time is wasting can not be late
For with that same cow, it is time to castrate

Many men I hold in great regard
Ho humming through tasks to me so hard
Then I think of the great range rider
