I think that I love you.
Prepare for the awkward attention,
Because I do not know how to behave without restraint.
I wear it on my sleeve,
That's why I am so vulnerable.
My heart is open to you,
Spilling over with enthusiasm.
Halfhearted I do not pursue.
Perusing this sexual tension with you.
There isn't a self-help book for Life
Living for dummies as it were.
If you would love me well,
I would be your paramour
It is amazing what a little love and freedom will do.
They should have learned that during the revolution.
Napoleon, that little yipping dog,
Wasn't a lover either.
It was more control and lip-service,
A cloak and dagger masquerade,
You'll get stabbed in the back
As they tell you honey dipped lies.
The desire for a passionate love,
My own aeipathy.
Consumed with the dreams of a lover who loves,
A mourner who mourns.
My own muse, who refuses to love me little.
Without restraint or apprehension.
An apparition that I have yet to meet.
Where is she, where is the love I so long for?
Beyond me,
In a softer bed, in stronger arms.
Beyond me. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 256 [topic] => 2 [informant] => deadreckoning1983 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LovePoetry )

This reader can relate to this a lot. Very well written.

My heart never seems to agree with any logic.

Thanks for an enjoyable read and I am granting extra points because you used the word obtuse in your author's note!!!

Tim

I need a copy of "Living for Dummies". :P

Powerful closing lines, to wrap up this straight-up and emotive piece. I like the twists and turns your words took to drive home your point. Well done.

There are white lies, and honey dipped lies. I love it. Yet another great read.

Best,
