he's a mini doxi
not a Saint Bernard you see.

His bark belies his stature
and his personality too
he likes to chase men up our steps
it makes them look like fools.

His pearly teeth are really big
this is plain to see
cause if you touch one of his toys
your finger he'll bring me.

His tiny legs are lightening quick
as squirrels and birds attest
for when they land upon our grass
he shoos them back to nest.

I have a little dog

he's a mini doxi

funny and sweet poem!
Like the title, "I have a little dog"
About Doxen, or Dachshund
My own grandfather who was of German descent had his favorite pooch he named "Heine" short for Heinrich
And oh how we hated that dog who would eat paper out of the trash and even bite my grandfather from time to time.
Once, on a lovely day it was a picnic in the park
My brother in law bent over my grandfather's car as they were getting ready to go, and Heine as was his nature tried to leap out the small opening of the car window to bite him
And without missing a step my brother in law stuck a
hot dog bun in his mouth... And Heine tried to swallow it up and almost up and gagged. I hated that damn dog

And we all laughed, the end of a perfect day, I'll never forget.
Any who... not all doxi's are bad. They are not all like Heinrich was. Some are even very cute.
And can even see why some of them think they are bigger than they are. It's because they got spunk.

Anyway, sorry for the long nonsensical reply. Good poem.
Strange how they affect certain people different ways...

Peace!

Lol. I guess the grass always seems to be greener on the other side. Big dogs try to be lap dogs too.

Cute poem. Thanks for the smile.
