Hand in the mirror, you appear as mine-
that scar! (Yes, right there on the thumb where
it joins the mass)-
Right there!
I recall and see in your hand the memory how it came
to pass- that day of sheet metal and fleeing- a time long past.

Hand, you swipe above my crown- my eyes see lush brown,
thick hair not harried in the least by life- that hand rolls
through the luxury, but reality- oh, so sparse,
ere' a hair to caress; the real me, my hair, so much less.

My stomach- oh, mirror, how you mock!
I see in you reflected the thin and rippled abs of youth-
lying mirror! I look down and see the bulging truth
that time, nor mirrors, nor delusion hold at bay-
this stomach grown in laziness, fatter by the day.

That jaw, so strong, chiseled from the granite God
of youth- now, gone the edge and jut, but in mirrored
delusion and aged confusion, I see it still thus.

And dreams! Oh, how to address that which could have been,
were it not for life and passing days,
the million little choices made that drew from dreams
to silent screams of how I have devolved-
the ideal swimming in mind's eye in glory-

the result of this life, a sultry lazy swim- another story-
a mirror then, a mirror of now-

A view and one word in dismay,

Hello there boet.

Very real story for most and set out so well. I'm sure millions of people can relate. May I voice an opinion? One must realise. Life happens to all of us. Our focus shifts gravity takes over other things become more important. Yes I know it's not pleasant looking in the mirror and seeing what we see. However no amount of disapproval will change it. In saying that I am not for one moment implying one must let yourself go altogether. I'm just saying accept what has happened, do some damage control and move on. If one does not, the stress of worrying about what was and what is now will just compound the problem. Take care God bless and you know where to find me if you wanna chat. Again grate write

Greetings
Gert
