Array ( [sid] => 179634 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Closing My Eyes Is Nam [time] => 2014-11-10 05:01:04 [hometext] => Dedicated to the many Vietnam Vets who went through Hell and back, that live with that horror every day! God Bless you all for your service! [bodytext] => I am getting weary
from the memories that tie me down
Whenever I close my eyes
I travel back to a certain place at the speed of sound

Almost like having a dream
only I am very wide awake
I find myself sweating profusely
wishing for God, my soul to take

The sounds of years ago
ringing so clearly in my head
The visions of so much confusion
and bodies of the dead

My eyes are closed
I am afraid to open them wide
The realization of where I have been
only gives me the will to hide

If only people around me
could see the visions in my mind
The sweating and cold shivers
is the freedom they will find

Bound in this body
aging through all these years
I have remained a soldier in my mind
while my memories bring only tears

Many buddies I left back in Nam
but when I close my eyes we are together as a team
Then I open my eyes and find myself back in this world
where nothing, is as it really may seem

I can really feel this. My father and many of his friends can relate. And man, you have a way with words. I could read this 1000 times....If could handle the tears...thank YOU so very much. I'm so lucky to be here. Because of people like you. Please remember that. Your buddies live on...within you.
