Our hearts if you please?

Contributed by futuremoves on Sunday, 12th October 2014 @ 06:55:07 AM in AEST
Topic: LoveRemembered

Is it over?
Could it be?
Only time will heal
Our misery.

Were we right?
Were we wrong?
We're married though.
We will hold on?

Absent understanding.
Living in fear.
Of what I would say?
Or what I may hear!

Were our fights fair?
Did we learn all we could?
If I could change things.
You know that I would.

Does it pay to win fights?
We refused to lose.
No we weren't wrong.
Just methods we used.

Life is too short.
Not to be your best.
Prove to your spouse.
You'll withstand the test.

The test of time.
Our enemy.
We both stood as one.
Now we're free.

Is free the word?
Did we give up too soon?
Only time they say
Can heal our wounds.

I will not pretend
That we're just friends.
If we start over
It's where we'll begin.

So no I won't call.
No you won't hear.
My truck has a flat.
Or I'd like to be near.

Near to my Ex.
It's what you've become.
The odds have beat us.
The damage is done.

But I've a tool.
It's called belief
It can fix anything.
Our hearts if you please?

Oh man this one hit home for me! So much emotion, almost brought me to tears. You did an absolutely fantastic job writing this. Hope that your heart regains strength and that God gives you the endurance to press on,

Deidra

Hi there

This is so sad. My heart goes out to you man. Here is a link to a poem I wrote just today for my sister in law in the hope her and her husband won't make this exact mistake.

Sometimes there's too great an emphasis on love and loyalty and mercy in marriage are overlooked. Hollywood is emotional porn and we strive to emulate a standard of love that's unattainable. Love starts like a firework and dissipates all the same for most. But a relationship should be built on love but not love alone. Friendship and other qualities must serve as a foundation so that should love become weak the other pillars would uphold the union. Not to say this was lacking in yours, your poem just reminds me of the necessity to build a relationship on more than one pillar
