Thinking we hear the music from its shore
Some believe it requires no real sacrifice
Paradise lies behind the next hidden door

We trot through life as each day does unfold
Battling dangers nightmares never dreamed
Sometimes this war becomes tiring and old
Life seems lost within a loveless scheme

Spending time remembering pasts gone by
Unable to envision glories the future holds
Ignoring the present as it storms one's eye
Life carries on as it screamingly scolds

Rarely does one choose to speak out loud
I'll work forward toward a life well earned
Often we focus on becoming rich and proud
Not realizing the difference is easily discerned

Painting pictures of sunsets and tree lined paths
Fooling ourselves into believing we have it made
But therein we can incur life's darkest wraths
When life is denied its sunshine in the shade

Maybe we could promise to give life a smile
Tomorrow's wonder can help to end today's cries
Bring forth love and hope to end yesterday's trial
Imagine the paradise that lies before our eyes [comments] => 3 [counter] => 149 [topic] => 48 [informant] => dvtpdw [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

You make some excellent points! spending time remembering pasts gone by"..oh how we so love to dwell! You have taken us thru the door..shaken us to remind us to find ourselves in the present moment. The past is over and the future will never be. Thank you for guiding us to joy in our now!
