then came reality slicing it's knife.
I still kept a smile and held back the tears,
tried to overcome every heartbreak and fight through the fears.
I just kept pushing hoping and praying,
lying in wait for something to come and change my fate.
I did what people said and tried to be strong,
I gave up I waited so long.
I failed and many times over,
I tried doing it high,
I tried doing it sober.
I loved for real and for fake,
giving it try just for the sake.
I thought if I was pretty and witty and played it smart,
I would find something real to heal my heart.
I never really thought I was just a game for someone to play,
someone bored seeking to tame.
I was full of spirit and hopeful dreams,
now I cry and drown out my screams.
No mater how hard I try to outrun the pain,
it lurks in the back of my brain.
I will myself to keep going, never knowing what might change my fate,
I am afraid if I stop I just might break. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 130 [topic] => 75 [informant] => nikkib [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => anguished )

This is one of the single greatest lines of poetry I've ever read, and that includes those we call the "Masters".

I'm so proud of you for doing this,

"I loved for real and for fake"

Close to tears on reading this. You truly are gifted, Nikki

Invierno
