Array ( [sid] => 178888 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Stay [time] => 2014-07-23 23:45:52 [hometext] => A poem inspired by an artist named Nas [bodytext] => All I can taste is the summer breeze
And my raspberry iced tea
Brooklyn bridge looking at the night sea
The illusion of stars that shine brightly
But it's just the reflection of light off the water
If I treat it like a fountain, drop in a quarter...
...Could I make a wish?

The mind grows when you're outside your comfort zone
The rest of the world's a scary place cuz it ain't home
When your mother's arms are all you know
How can you expect to not be scared wherever you go
But then you get older
Become more mature
Ready to see it all
Places you ain't been before
But only this time
You gotta walk alone
Without your mother's arms
Only your own
But I basically grew up that way
Been a motherless child from an early age
So why am I still hesitant to solely take the stage
Why am I less ambitious, because I'm more afraid
But things have changed
I can no longer wait
Dire times placed me in a different mind state
Gotta get my own
Gotta find my way
Gotta leave my comfort zone,
I can't
Stay...

Brooklyn is home to this poet
But it's not really where he's from, it's where he's going
Truth be told, half the hood don't even know him
I got flows now, y'all ain't even know it
But I'm not just another artist
Far from typical
Not a replica of heart but original
Pure soul I give to you, flaws & all
Damaged by my insecurities, my scars are raw
Patience is a virtue
But time is of the essence
If endurance is a curse
Resilience is a blessing
Staying strong and bouncing back ain't an easy task
People who claim to care never bothered to even ask
Glory has yet to come
I only talk of shame
And add these sideline stories to my walk of fame
It shall extend beyond my death to future days
My world,
Macadon welcomes you to Stay. [comments] => 1 [counter] => 175 [topic] => 34 [informant] => Blackheart [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SongLyrics )
