It took quite a while
For my heart, it spoke
Said, "You're in denial."

She said, "Wake up, girl"
My mind took a blow
"Child, give it a whirl
Life is more than you know."

Still, I was very rough
And covered my head
She said, "That's enough
You get out that bed!"

"For too long," she said,
"Have I hurt for you,
"Grow up time, I said,
Now own what you do."

"You've been careless, yes,
Through things, you don't think
I've endured the stress
Now I'm at the brink."

"Accept your role, dame
See what you do do
See the one to blame
See that one is you."

"You have power strong
To change it, your life
You know I'm not wrong
Open to 'real life!'"

After hearing this
I started to know
My blame was a miss
All blamed. Not me, though!

I've denied my part
In this human life
Took too much to heart
Had not enough fight

Much to let go of
Plenty to re-think
The feel we call love
Sometimes, it does stink

My heart, she read me
And knew as I thought
"Yes, it does, hunni"
Said, "At times, a lot."

"But stay true to you
Do not as others
Love bravely, please do
Careful with brothers!"

"To those that you know
Even who can't see
Let it, your love, flow
give freely from me."

"Do this, but guard me
Please, take not as much
'Cause pure your heart be
Some make use of such."

This noon I rose up
And I was much brave
"Take head and push on
My heart said, "Live, pup!"

Such a cryptic tale of awakening from an outlook that no longer works; approaching life anew on slightly damp wings! We have all shed our selfhood many times and certainly can feel the pulse of our
growing pains in your tender remembrance.
Touching, sensetive, and full of the wonder of young discovery. Beautifully crafted and a joy to re-take the journey with you!

I really liked the poem! It's such an awesome idea to present a conversation of the speaker and the speaker's heart!

What speaks to me the most is the transition fron discouraged to confidence. I'm going through the same thing myself so I can help but admire this poem. Excellent poem, I love this
