The day is sunny, all shadows wrecked,
hot breath eight minutes to my neck-
buzzing flies and dreamy skies
compete with dripping sweat to sting my eyes.
The grass bends deep beneath my feet,
a squishy yield without a peep,
my basket safe, quilt soft and draped,
cooling shaded lunch within,
the quilt I've tasked to cool my food,
now retooled to blanket under shady tree;
perfect, soft, a barrier 'tween bugs and me.
Cheese comes out 'neath lifted lid,
salami follows shiny oyster tin;
wine, some red to wash the meat,
then white to wash the red for cheese.
Tummy tucked a tad more out-
wine bottles facing downward spout,
so odd my pants could shrink this fast...
they fit just fine before I sat,
but up, my feet, with wine and all
in tummy swishing splashing, an inland sea
rue I do the meat and cheese,
oyster's skipped? So easily, alas all consumed
and past my lips-
But the wine? Why yes, indeed, no mind,
two bottles felled, I do prey tell,
objections there? None I find....
Then bleary blanket beckons me-
the wine and shade combine convincingly,
I check the tree for dripping sap-
that's all I need- so now I nap.

It's funny that you say, "A romp about zip and deep as a tread".. I actually took something from this one.. If not from content, then at least from style.. I liked it!!
