Array ( [sid] => 178705 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Nothing To Forget [time] => 2014-07-05 16:16:10 [hometext] => A poem I wrote for Holocaust class back in high school. We had to pick one of three photos and write something inspired by that photo. The photo I chose was of a Nazi pointing a gun at a mother holding her young daughter. [bodytext] => hush, Serina, hush

seeing the sighs and sobs flowing from your face is torture to me

don't cry, mommy is here

speak quickly, my child

sweet little Serina, you needn't fear

we're going to our new home

a six-pointed starlit heaven

we'll be safer there

of course, you'll like it

we're not leaving anything behind

your favourite doll Sarah... she'll be there

your teddy bear Muffy can come, too

you can wear your favourite baby blue dress every day

and mommy can listen to her Benny Goodman and Louis Armstrong records for hours and hours

and we will see daddy

he'll have no gunshot wound hurting him anymore

it must have healed by now

no, we won't have our house, but we'll have a better house

a house made of cloud mist

one with a white picket fence and a few willow trees

and you can have that kitten you've always wanted

and the view will be gorgeous

the flamboyance of the sun shall look brilliant in its ocean blue sky

don't cry, mommy is here

look at that Nazi with the gun

he thinks he's doing something bad to us

but he's not

he's sending us to see daddy

there's that sparkling smile I know

hold mommy tighter, Serina

hold me tighter so we can get there at the same time

we'll soon be in our paradise

our six-pointed starlit heaven

don't be sad, sweetie

you're not going to forget anything

because we're leaving behind nothing to forget

I love you, Serina

painful to even imagine... excellent exercise they had in your high school class. Your writing expresses such sorrowful truth. Well done!

Thanks!

Peace!
