A fly can die; noted, mourned less than
the last gulp of cheap gas station coffee
swilling round a toxic styro cup.

A deer smashed and mangled, speedy blink no time for stink
rotting in the road;
a feast for crawly things and
flying vermin...
twinged upon our eyes, more so than dead flies
though less regret, minute remorse
less pungent than the loss of a fish upon the line-
sorrow gone, left only in a child's mind...wisdom
lost we (adults) need to (yet again discover) find.

But relevance, Oh sweet relevance!
When WE die (and even then, only those we know)-
Oh my, such a different story then,
frowns and tears to swamp and clog the nose...
fear (for does it not remind us, dear?)
our demise is not so far behind-
it could be us! Not me! Do NOT discuss
where we go, cold and ashen on the table waiting
on the indifferent knife-
Still in our new unmoving life.

Perhaps a tear spilled for the deer would serve us
well in this new heaven....avoid altogether this new hell?
A smile for the fly, a dash of respect for simply life,
would most certainly go quite a ways
if our soul is measured in compassion...registered
on life..not just beings of our shape and substance-
eternity is not measured in appreciation of relevance. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 116 [topic] => 51 [informant] => invierno [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Event )

My dear friend

What a topic in the day and age where everything is about I, I, I and again I! All life is precious everything has a place in creation. However we humans, and I quote from one of my poems "in our foolish wisdom" think we know it all and we are supreme above everything else on this planet and in the universe. So we don't have to show compassion or favour to anything. Shocker!!!!! We will answer one day. Brilliant write

Greetings
Rus
