She's dressed as seen in her mind's eye
Her bravery's shown in what she does wear
She's as she wants and just doesn't care

I hear the song that he sings on the radio
His story's being told the way he says to go
The beat stirs me with all its brave notes
He'll sing it his way as he silently gloats

I see a young woman reading on the bench
Ignoring the calls of idiot and you silly wench
Her clothes and demeanor hide the bravery within
She secretly smiles knowing she's the one who wins

Beside me walks an elderly lady so bent over
Bravely walking without a look over her shoulder
In her bag and on her back she carries a weight
Yet each day shines as she defies her fate

I smile at the boy hitting a ball with a stick
He plays bravely, hiding the fact that he's sick
He faces the day not knowing if it's his last
So determined to have one heck of a blast

What does this word - brave- really mean
Is it what public relation wants it to seem
It's true definition often a distant obscure blur
As within our lives we rarely see it occur

Close your mind and see with your heart
Listen to the sounds this bravery does impart
It'll give you shivers when at last you realize
This - brave - has always been in front of your eyes

i love observational life poetry, the imagery here is so
brilliant, i can see them, feel what they are thinking,
peek into their lives, you've done a wonderful job
penning this! absolutely impressive:)

such an amazing write! your telling the reader to be brave..whatever brave is for them...I closed my eyes at the end, when the words say to...and your right..."this -brave- has always been in front of my eyes" bravo. thank you for this.

brave to be different,
brave to just live life no matter
the condition
brave, it's what's really missing,
Got Brave?

You got it going on here.
"As within our lives we rarely see it occur"
not true, not true at all...
great compass you have with this poem
fun, love, freedom
live, ring the bell
I think you just did
Peace!

Bravery equals confidence and being true to thyself. That's what I got out of this poem of excellence.

Thank you,

Tim
