Neck and Neck (and the victor's secret)

Contributed by Invierno on Sunday, 25th May 2014 @ 01:13:17 PM in AEST
Topic: poets

My dollop drop into this body;
the YPDC...Sea, (heee, heee)
has enriched my core through pouring, drinking
ever linking to an increase
of my spirit's store.

Upon a time, my pen fell ill to papers thrill-
Imagination and creation fled;
as a mighty horse might lag,
ceding to those lesser bred....
So was I in course of life;
A stallion letting nag run in its stead.

Scene set- come see...we'll be right back-
Announcer (me) echoes o'er life's dusty track;
“It's Minutia, leading by a nose!
rounding bend, front stretch to go-
Hold on! Meaning pulls ahead....
Folks, it's neck and neck!
Dear God it's close!”
Baited breath, audience of one..
I, owner of both horses, true-
yet so much riding on outcome...
a soul at stake, for Preakness sakes!
Yikes! Let's get back to this race!
“It's Minutia leading by a hair...noooo!
Wait! Meaning surges for the lead
not to be out done!
Beauty, life, emotion full; this horse,
folks?
He's still strong of run!”

It's over now, beating dust has found it's place
(as dictates) close to ground.
Hooves stomp, laurels draping Meaning's neck-
prancing proud in owners pride-
Minutia led away defeated...no stranger to demise...
resignation listless in his eyes.

“But what”, one asks, “inspired
Meaning to great feats?”
Owner answers, crowd silent as he speaks;
“YPDC...a chance to be...an imbibing of
creative oceans...
My winner sipped, embracing strength...and finding it
surrendered to emotion....victory via this most potent potion”.

Your Poetry Dot Com; a soul's most soothing lotion.

I like the race concept and Meaning coming from behind to win. What surprise to know the elixir is "a soul's most soothing lotion".

I agree and also find inspiration and affirmation among all who write in this collective. Thank you for the thank you Invierno, on behalf of us all.

I like this site (YPDC) too. The horses being minutia and meaning, which one's the projected winner, which one is the dark horse, is such an interesting question, especially when it comes to writing and of course reading.

I like this because it's a special dedication to this site which so many do like, myself included.

Thanks as always Invierno!

A wonderfully humorous(yet, serious) acclaimation!
I wish all tributes were as full and vital as this. It certainly would make sitting through them a lot more comfortable and entertaining.
Excellent analogical usage!
I am glad Meaning pulled it off...:-D
Great stuff, thank you for sharing!!!
