With a pen for a friend
and a fool for a hand,
with a brain made of rain
and a soul made of sand,
with toes that won't go
and feet that won't run,
in a race undefined
where the winner is none;
in a clamouring stammer
staccato beat hammer
a grasping unclasping
of bowling unrolling,
an unfurling curling,
I find once again,
after all of this running
I'm back with my pen.
